This $10 USB Condom Will Protect Your Private Data From Viruses And Theft

USB ports and connectivity via USB cables has become quite common, however, what most of us are not aware of is the fact that each time you make use of a USB port, you risk yourself to a myriad of viruses and invasion of private data. In order to make this a safe procedure, ‘USB condom’ has been designed by security experts in order to keep sensitive data secure.

The gadget basically allows the users to plug their smartphone or tablets into unfamiliar USB ports while keeping them safe from the risk of viruses. The gadget is known as a ‘protective barrier between your device and juice-jacking hackers.’ The gadget was created by int3.cc, a New York based security expert company that came up with this device in order to tackle the risk of fake public charging stations that download sensitive data.

Let’s take a minute to understand how the USB cables work; in essence a USB cable is comprised of a number of wires that are all encased in a unique protective casing. Each cable has a particular function that it needs to execute. Two of them serve to transfer electricity while the rest take care of the transmission of data. Kaspersky says; ‘If the smartphone automatically connects when it is in removable media mode, that makes all files in the internal storage accessible to the PC. These may include documents as well as various data backup copies created by applications and many other things.’

The USB condom is a small chip with a male and a female port. The device works as a bridge in between the device and the unknown USB port. The basic purpose of this device is to sever any data connection while still allowing for the charging to take place. It started out as an experiment but gained enough popularity that now it is being sold at a price tag of $10.

Finger Sized World’s Smallest RC Helicopter is Pico-Falcon

Drones have risen to such popularity that nowadays we constantly witness new innovations being introduced with the target audience of civilians. We have seen a myriad of such gadgets that range from super-expensive remote controlled drones to small RC helicopters – all consumer-grade of course. With this in mind, Bandai subsidiary CCP is ready to launch a new RC helicopter that is known as Pico-Falcon.

Yes, you guessed it right; the Pico-Falcon is the successor of Nano-Falcon released by the same company back in 2014. Then it was the smallest RC helicopter, however, now Pico-Falcon enjoys that title. Pico-Falcon is the world’s tiniest RC helicopter. It measures in at 46 mm long and in comparison its infrared controller seems quite huge.

Pico-Falcon has a new and improved gyro-centre along with tandem rotors for improved stability. But, owing to the fact that it is very small, the battery is miniaturized as well and only allows for 4 minutes of flying time after a 30-minute charge. The gadget costs $45.

Pico-Falcon will be available in blue, green and orange colors and shall be launched on 5thDecember in Japan.

Changing Your Face Is Now Possible As FDA Approves 3D Printed Face Implants

Didn’t we tell you that 3D printing was going to be the next big thing? (yes, we do like to boast about it again and again). Do you know how hard it was to get a face implants before 3D printing came along? In simple words; it was almost next to impossible. However, today we stand amazed by what the Oxford Performance Materials has achieved via the OsteoFab Patient-Specific Facial Device. The gadget is a completely customizable face implant that can be used without breaking a sweat for facial reconstruction.

3D printing has made the case of fabricating complex parts a walk in the park. This feature has imparted the customizability to the face implant catering to each patient and the condition they are in. Patient’s anatomy no longer imposes any restriction and the method reduces the cost by a huge factor. The technology has also been approved by the FDA.

Scott DeFelice, CEO of Oxford Performance Materials says; ‘With the clearance of our 3D printed facial device, we now have the ability to treat these extremely complex cases in a highly effective and economical way, printing patient-specific maxillofacial implants from individualized MRI or CT digital image files from the surgeon. This is a classic example of a paradigm shift in which technology advances to meet both the patient’s needs and the cost realities of the overall healthcare system.’

The technology was first tested a year ago when a patient’s skull was replaced (75% of it) with the PEKK biomedical printed part. The PEKK polymer has the properties that are very close to human bone. DeFelice said; ‘It is our firm belief that the combination of PEKK and Additive Manufacturing (our OsteoFab technology) is a highly transformative and disruptive technology platform that will substantially impact all sectors of the orthopedic industry.’

What they’ve achieved now is a successful skull implant and the approval by FDA for face implant as well. This will enable people to change the way the look while other might exploit this technology to disguise themselves. The company is planning to move ahead and tackle other body parts as well such as the femurs, knee-caps and hips. Although, this may require some more fine tuning owing to how these areas work.
